Originales Pergamentblatt aus einem gedruckten Stundenbuch, S.Bois für Geoffroy Tory am 22.Oktober 1527 mit mehrfarbig illuminierter Holzschnittbordüre, zeitgenössisch koloriert. Textseiten mit traditioneller gotischer Drucktype von Blumenbordüren flämischen Stils gerahmt. Titel des Werkes: Hore in laudem beatissime virginis Marie, secundum consuetudinem Ecclesiae Parisiensis. Literatur dazu: Mortimer 304 - Murray 279 - Bohatta 330 - Lacombe 364. Seltenes Stundenbuch von Mortimer als "Experiment" bezeichnet, das einen Kompromiss Torys zwischen französischem und italienischem Illustrationsstil bedeutet. Darstellung mit Blumen, Insekten und Tieren " a la moderne" wurden hier erstmals verwandt. Torys Graphik steht in enger Beziehung zu jener Buchmalerei, die in Tours oder Paris beheimatet war und unter dem Namen WERKSTATT VON 1520 bekannt ist. Das Pergamentblatt ist eine Rarität, auf deutschen und internationalen Auktionen in den letzten Jahrzehnten nicht zu finden. Sehr guter Zustand, über 480 Jahre alt. Ca. max. Geoffroy TORY Paris 22.Oct.1527. Original illuminated Vellum leaf from an early printed Book of Hours. Very rare edition from the Book of Hours: Hore in laudem beatissime virginis Marie, secundum consuetudinem Ecclesiae Parisiensis. The printing on vellum was done during a very short period of time between the writing on vellum and the printing on paper, the most luxurios, like this leaf, were printed on Vellum. Books of Hours are personal prayer books of a devout and status-conscious society and are not only works of art, but cultural documents of their time. They reveal a unique combination of sacred and secular imagery, made of the finest materials by the best artists, for a small audience that could both appreciate and afford them. This G.Tory leaf is an absolutely rare example, not offered at international auctions during the past decade. Very good condition, over 480 years old.
